Increase of Minimum Wage Over Time

Increase Of Minimum Wage Over Time

Thesis Statement: Minimum wage has increased over the years and may still increase during time.

During the years, minimum has increased exponentially. In 19338 the minimum wage was 25 cent. In today's time, the minimum wage has increased to $7.25. Below is a line graph from mediamatters.org that shows the increase of minimum wage between 1938-2013:

As you can tell, minimum wage grew to a much larger amount.  In February of 1968, the minimum wage grew the most. Since some states was allowed to make their own minimum wage, some states rose up to $12. According to bebusinessed.com, "Washington had the highest minimum wage amount starting out at $9.47 in 2015."

In my opinion, minimum wage should not raise because of the taxes and prices on other things. I believe the minimum wage is good because of the teenagers working in fast food restaurants, stores, etc. I believe minimum wage is more for teenagers to work and build responsibility and not so much for older people who can get a career. Minimum wage should stay the way it is because society is bad enough and raising minimum wage would only create more problems.

  1. Increase in minimum wage should steadily increase because that'll be helpful for families and students who can only work at a job that pays minimum wage. The blog itself was hard for me to read, color and type of font should be changed. The information in the blog was limited but got the point and the support of the thesis through. The chart was helpful because I personally like to physically look at the data. Overall good job on the blog.

  2. Hi Angel! I have to say I agree with Makayla on your blog being kind of hard to read. I did find your blog interesting because, I never really knew the history of minimum wage. Adding the chart into your blog was a good idea and very helpful. Good Job!

  3. When you write out your research paper, just make sure to not use first and second person point of view. Your blog is kinda hard to read because of the font but you made a good point on this post. I agree with what Makayla has to say about this post. You're doing great! Keep it up!
